Meet us
Whales and dolphins each have their own unique personalities - click on the dolphin or whale you’d like to adopt.
You can choose a bottlenose dolphin from North East Scotland, a humpback whale from the East coast of the United States or an orca (killer whale) from the West coast of Canada. They are all incredible individuals with their own stories to tell. When you adopt a dolphin or whale you will help to protect them all from the dangers they face.

-
Sundance
Sundance was first spotted in 1990 when he was a tiny calf and now he’s a big adult male bottlenose dolphin. Sundance is really sociable and he just loves to leap around with friends - especially Moonlight. We think he may be dad to Moonlight’s baby.

Rainbow
Rainbow was first spotted way back in 1989 when she was just a youngster. She now has calves of her own including Raindrop who was born in 2005. She got her name because of her ‘bright and colourful’ character! She has a nick in the centre of her dorsal fin, which makes her easy to spot.

Reflection
Reflection is an adult female humpback who was named for her symmetrical tail-fluke pattern. But it's her feeding ballet that makes her recognisable from a distance - she catches fish with her face out of the water and a big splash of her tail.

Salt
Salt is probably the most famous humpback in the world and certainly the most distinguished and photographed. She was first identified in 1975 and is a grandmother and mother of many calves. She commands the respect of everyone who sees her.

Pointer
Pointer was born in 1975 and is the third son of Tsitika. Like all male resident orcas he continues to stay with his mother and his immediate family. For such a huge male, he is immensely agile when chasing his favourite meal.

Why adopt?
Whales and dolphins are highly intelligent, social and mysterious. But they face many dangers.
-
Oil and gas exploration and production, large marina development, pollution, fisheries and more are increasingly putting pressure on the dolphins and their home. By adopting a dolphin you will build a special link with an individual animal and help us to protect the whole population. Extinction is forever - the Moray Firth dolphins cannot be replaced.
-
Around the world 42 orcas are held in concrete tanks and forced to perform tricks to entertain human visitors and make profit for big companies. WDC has helped ban keeping whales and dolphins captive in Cyprus, Croatia, Costa Rica, Chile and Slovenia. Your whale adoption will enable us to fight until there are no whales and dolphins held in captivity.
-
In the past more than 100,000 humpbacks were killed by whalers for their oil. Shockingly, despite the ban on commercial whaling, thousands of whales, including humpbacks are still slaughtered every year for their meat . Your whale adoption will enable us to fight until commercial whaling is consigned to the history books – for good.
